Saratoga Springs Teachers Leak "Professional Development" Training which attacks liberal concepts of merit, color-blindness and suggest denying individual racism is a form of bias.
A teacher from the Saratoga Springs School District has provided Moving Saratoga Forward with images of a presentation delivered to them by "equity" consultant Generation Ready, as part of Generation Ready's professional development contract with the school.
The troubling content attacks liberal values like Meritocracy and Colorblindness. It suggests that all white people are racist by promoting the idea that any white person who denies being a racist is demonstrating some type of "bias."
Teachers watched a poetry reading of the poem, "Ode to the Only Black Kid in Class," and were encouraged to, on their own time, take the Harvard Implicit Bias Aptitude test, a request which may violate the union contract.
Teachers feel demoralized by training;
“Overall, the trainings are terrible for teacher morale. Whether a teacher believes in what the trainings are about or not is irrelevant at this point because we all agree that being told that you are a bad person (and there’s nothing you can do about it because your bias is biologically ingrained) does not sit well with any human being.
We asked the teacher if they felt the Teachers Union Representatives were being supportive of its members regarding their concerns about these so-called "Equity" trainings.
The teachers response was "Nope."
